Jose E. Montez

Jose E. Montez, 91, passed away February 3, 2018, at St Mary Corwin Hospital. He was born June 12, 1926, in San Luis, Colorado to proud parents Jose I. and Gregorita (DeHerrera) Montez, both preceded him in death; along with his loving wife of 54 years, Maria “Tot” Montez who passed on July 26, 1998. Jose was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He was a member of Holy Family Church, also a member of the Moose Lodge #994, Eagles #145, and the American Legion Post #2. Jose was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He was the Patriarch of our Family. Survived by his children: Steve Montez (Jean Engel), Martin (Emily) Montez, Jennie (John) McKee and Judie Gradisar; 10 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; a dear and special friend Dora Otero, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who loved and will miss him dearly. Rosary Wednesday 1p.m. with Funeral Mass 1:30p.m. Both services at Our Lady of The Meadows Church 23 Starling Dr. Msgr. Jim King, as Celebrant. Interment Imperial Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. Family will receive Friends at Steel City Eagles 704 Elmhurst following Burial rites.
