Walter Harrison Farris, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday Jan. 12, 2018. He was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Watt Davis and Irene (Bean) Farris who preceded him in death; along with his loving wife of 58 years, Ruby Alene Farris; son, Kevin Farris; brothers, Luther James Farris; Alvin Farris; and sister, Erma Jean Sales. He attended and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School. Following graduation, he entered the United States Armed Forces and proudly served his country in the Army. On Aug. 16, 1958, Walter married Ruby Alene Johnson; soon after, they moved to Pueblo, Colo., where they started their family. Walter was employed by Colorado Fuel & Iron, where he retired after working diligently for 31 years. Walter, affectionately known as "Butch," was recognized as the patriarch of the family, a role which he humbly accepted. He enjoyed cooking for family, watching baseball and Westerns, fishing and the occasional trips to Cripple Creek. He is survived by children, Kerry (Jennifer) Farris; Robin Farris and Randy (Comelita) Farris; grandchildren, Janell Farris, Andrew Farris and Deon Farris; great-grandchildren, Ayana Martinez and Dominic Martinez; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Sangre de Cristo Hospice for their kindness and professional care given to Walter Harrison Farris.
