Alfredo Romero, 88, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2018. He was born April 18, 1930 in Wagon Mound, NM to Juan Rebeco and Frutosa (Maes) Romero, and grew up in Trujillo, NM. He is preceded in death, by his parents; four children; brothers and sisters, Tobias, Isabelina, Celso, Pedro, Nick, Manuel, Cecilia and Aurora.Survived by wife Delia; children, Fred (Nancy), Connie (Jerry), Nick, Richard, Lorraine (Gordon), Angelo (Connie), Teresa (Henry), John (Kathy), Elaine (Rusty), Lisa (Andres); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Luis, Albert, Carlos, Ida, Tomacita and Angela; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; former daughter-in-law Rita, special nephew Mike and childhood friend Benjamin Aragon. Fred was a very honest and humble man. An avid reader, hunter, mechanic and talented musician. In his early years, played music with Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. He valued and encouraged education. He loved family gatherings, playing cards, watching boxing, westerns and nature shows. He loved telling stories, joking and laughing. He loved his family, enjoyed their company regardless of age. He was a pet lover, especially his dog Kloie, his twenty-four-hour companion and protector. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Lorraine and her family who provided excellent care for him as his caregivers. His work history included construction, the Rail Road and CF&I. He leaves friends in Denver and Pueblo, Colorado, as well as in Clovis and Portales, New Mexico. Rosary 9:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 both at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Interment Imperial Memorial Gardens.
