Donald Vest, 70, passed away on July 22, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Don was born in Denver Colorado and grew up in Pueblo, having graduated from Central High school and Colorado State University-Fort Collins. Don worked for the Pueblo City Planning Department as a statistician and as a college librarian. His interests/hobbies included RAF, reading, listening to music, astronomy, photography, chess, and a collection of military figures from various conflicts. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Laurine Vest, sister Nyla McElroy, in laws Onesimo and Maria Torres and brothers in law Charles and Paul Torres. Don is survived by his wife Rose, niece Lisa (Chris) Bertrand, nephew David (Dayna) Lee and their families, brother in law Bernie Torres, good friends Alan, Stevie G, Steve M, Walter, Ron, Mike, Ray, Robert and Juanita and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. John Campana and staff as well as Sangre de Cristo Hospice for their care of Don. A Memorial Service will be held Friday August 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 310 W. 11th at 1pm with Rev. Rick Calhoun officiating. Reception to immediately followed in Booth Hall. Per Don’s request. Private family inurnment at a later date. Charitable contributions can be made directly to the funeral home.
