Dr. Jesus “Jessie” Lopez Jr., DDS, PC, was called home by our Lord on Monday August 27th 2018. Jessie was born on July 6 th 1942 to Jesus and Josephine Lopez in Roswell New Mexico. Jessie graduated with honors, on the Dean’s List, Doctor of Dental Surgery from St. Louis University in St Louis, Missouri. He proudly served with the US Army for over 11 years. He served as an intern at Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii. His Tour of duty included Sinop, Turkey, and an isolated US Army satellite spy station on the Black Sea, 40 miles from Russia before retiring with a Colonel’s commission and completing surgical residency at Fitz Simmons hospital in Denver. Jessie established and maintained his own highly successful Oral-Maxillofacial surgery practice in Pueblo Colorado. He wrote and published his own book which chronicles his life and tribulations after surviving horrors, loneliness and deep depression, replete with the cases of violence, torture and suicide he witnessed firsthand during his tour of duty. Jessie was a highly influential, prominent, and respected member of the community. He donated his time and surgical expertise to children with cleft Palate birth defects whose parents could not afford the corrective surgery. Jessie was involved with the Fiesta Day Committee in Pueblo and donated to many other altruistic causes that touched his heart. He donated turkeys and hams to many at Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Through his kind works and donations, Jessie has paved the way for many Latinos in need in the community to find their own successes.
