Guilberto Montoya, 74, passed away Dec. 30, 2017 with his loving family surrounding him. He was born Sept. 15, 1943 in Vroman, CO to the union of Fausten and Jovita Hernandez Montoya both precede him in death along with siblings, Casimiro Montoya, Maria Elsie Gallegos, Anna Ortiz, Alcario Montoya; brother-in-law Jack Zahr. Guilberto was very artistic and creative. He was known for his upholstery and leather work. He loved horses, Harleys and his time spent with family and friends. His smile was contagious. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member and Quarter Master at the VFW 8898 in Boone for 20 plus years, and a recent member of the VFW #3641. Guilberto retired from the Commanche Power Plant with 32 years of service. Guilberto is survived by his loving wife Lori (Braem) Montoya; his children, Casey Montoya, Nancy (Louis) Vigil, Kimberlee (Joey) Pagels, Tamara Montoya; siblings, Teresita Garcia, Stephanita Vigil, Mildred Benavidez, and Bertha Iwatsu; grandchildren, Jessica Garcia, Chelsea Vigil, Anessa Sandoval, Dominique Sandoval, Joel Sandoval, Jacob Sandoval, Samuel Sandoval SanJuan, Jeremiah Martinez Jr., Celso Orozco, and Giovanni Mendoza; great grandchildren, Laela Sandoval and Julian Garcia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Bonnie Braem; brother-in-law’s, Rick (Kay) Braem, Mike Braem, Jim Braem, and John Braem; sister-in-law’s, Jan Zahr and Sue (Chuck) Dueber; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Rosary 6 p.m. Thursday, Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Friday. Both services Sacred Heart Avondale, Fr. Joseph Vigil, celebrant. Interment Lucero Family Cemetery, Fowler, CO.
