Manuel R. Martinez, 89, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side Feb. 7, 2018. He was born Jan. 1, 1929 in Walsenburg, CO to proud parents, Moises and Eulalia (Pino) Martinez, both preceded him in death; along with his son, John Kenneth Martinez; his siblings, Joe Martinez, Margaret Martinez, Moses Martinez and Lucy Roberts. Manuel served in the US Army during the Korean conflict from 1951 through 1953. He retired from the Pueblo Army Depot with 40 years of service as heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Eagles #145, American Legion #2, and held positions as treasurer and president of Ignacio Zaragoza Society. He also held various other jobs to include SRDA as driver for 8 years, Parkview Hospital, and Target. He was a hard worker, excellent provider, and a man of faith. Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rachael Nava-Martinez; his children, Nancy Martinez, Manuel (Lena) Martinez, Jr., and Jonathon Martinez; seven grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friend who loved and will miss Manuel dearly.
