Martin George Hernandez, 84, affectionately known as "George", passed away Feb. 28, 2019 in Colo. Springs, CO. He was born March 10, 1934 in Pueblo, CO to Martin and Ann (Apodaca) Hernandez who precede him in death along with grandson, Eric Hernandez. George retired with 30 years of service as a Recreational Therapist at the Colorado State Hospital. He enjoyed wood working, coin collecting, music, golf and basketball. He officiated high school basketball for 42 years, and was a national honorary IAABO member for his contributions to high school basketball. He always stood strong in his faith, attending prayer group every Friday for over 20 years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish for 40 years and for 34 years he was the Music Ministry Director at Holy Family, as well. George loved and cherished his family very much, and spending time with them was very important to him. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 64 years, Dolores Elaine (Manzanares) Hernandez; children, Annette Hernandez-Santistevan, Steve Hernandez, Theresa (Dennis) Cowger, Patricia (Emilio) Reyes, Michelle (Floyd) Abeyta, Mike “Buzz Corona” Hernandez; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Anthony (Virginia) Regalado and Ronnie Regalado; brother-in-law, Irvin (Pat) Manzanares; numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Rosary 6:30p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial 10a.m. Friday. Both at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment Roselawn Cemetery.
