Serafin A. Lucero 99, passed away June 27, 2019. He was born August 22, 1919 in Tecoletito, NM., to the union of Roman and Florentina (Castillo) Lucero both precede him in death along with his loving wife Elsie (Duran) Lucero, his brother Domingo Lucero; Sons Joe and Adam Lucero. Serafin retired from the Dana Corporation with 25 years of service. He enjoyed music, a social butterfly, attending all the church festivals, he liked to dance, play the guitar, violin, and harmonica. Serafin was very active, a professional traveler, raising animals, tending to his yard and garden. Serafin was known as the “Cookie Monster” to his grandchildren. He had a sweet tooth, his favorite was cookies and pastries. He was an excellent cook, he said the secret was “Lard”. His biggest joy and blessing was his family, he loved sharing stories, life lessons, and many memories with each of them. Serafin leaves 99 years of cherish memories with his children, Dora Chavez, Isabel (Augustine) Montoya, Angie (Gary) DeAragon and Louise (Wayne) Lacrue, 22 grandchildren to include special granddaughter Arlene Lucero, whom he raised; 29 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, who loved and will miss Serafin dearly.
