A.D. Rose Obituary

A.D. Rose, 98, passed peacefully in his Pueblo home on November 15, 2018.  A.D. is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his son, Robert (Beth Towell) Rose, and his daughter, Kathy Williams.  He is survived by his daughters Nancy (Frank) Lawrence and Carmela (Elroy) Worner; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. 

A.D. was born June 7, 1920 in Pittsburg, Texas.  He was quite ill as a young boy and was not predicted to live past his childhood.  He grew up on a farm and left to join the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he served as a radio operator.  In 1947 he worked for an automotive parts distribution company in Dallas, where he met his bride of 68 years.  He also attended the Southern Methodist University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism in 1949.  He and Margaret enjoyed traveling with their four children and finally settled in Pueblo in 1965. He retired from the Pueblo Chieftain in 1984 after 19 years in Advertising.  A.D. and Margaret sang in the Spanish Choir at Holy Family and held weekly prayer groups in their home for many years.  Together, they authored two books for Catholic publication.  He authored countless articles for the Catholic Chronicle and other Catholic publications. A book compiled of his short stories and poemswas also created and published.    A.D. loved to garden and enjoyed sharing vegetables and fruit with family and friends.  He was also a very talented artist.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 26 at Angelus Chapel, with rosary to follow. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27 at St. Mary’s Church.  Internment, Roselawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers or food, please donate to the charity of your choice
