Albert Becco Obituary

Albert V. Becco Jr., 90, affectionately known as “Al”, passed away June 4, 2024. He was born July 17, 1933 in Canon City, CO. He is preceded in death by parents, Albert V. Becco Sr. and Mary Falgien Becco, as well as other family members.

Albert Becco started his service at CF&I January 2, 1952 in the metallurgy area of the Wire Mill then worked in the Quality Control department. He retired in 1986 after 35 years. During his employment he was drafted in the Navy, serving from March 1952 to September 1954. Following his service in the Navy, he returned to Pueblo and continued his work at the CF & I.

While working at CF&I, he became involved as a grievance man and for over 20 years headed the Clerical Union 3267. During this time, he was involved in labor disputes and renegotiating contracts for workers' rights and benefits.

He took great pride in being a steelworker and his involvement in the union. On a regional level, Al served for many years as Vice President of the Western chapter of SOAR (Steelworkers Organization of Retirees) and also served as the President of Local District 12 38-3 chapter, holding quarterly meetings at the United Steelworkers of America 2102 Hall. Other pursuits included his involvement with the Alliance of Manufacturing, whose mission is to buy American products and steel from the United States. He was the longest serving President of Local 3267, He was also a member of the Colorado Alliance for Retirees, working to protect the rights of workers. His work was so deserving of the recognition, He was inducted into the CF& I Hall of Fame in 2020. He received the Bob Scarlett Labor Leader of the Year Award, and the Mother Jones Lifetime Achievement Award both from the Southern Colorado Labor Council.

A loyal democrat, he was the 2nd Vice Chair of the Pueblo Democratic Party. He served as a delegate to the National Convention, twice. He ran the local democrat bingo for over 20 years which supported the headquarters. He was a longtime member of JacXpress. Al assisted many candidates on the national, state, and local level to get elected. He was recognized by the Pueblo Democratic Party as the democrat of the year, the Lifetime Achievement Award and Bingo Volunteer of the Year.

His loving wife, Norma J. Becco; children; Donna Becco Nystrom, Sharon (Scott) Marino, Brenda (Tom) Nelson, and Mike Orazem; grandchildren, Trevor Nystrom, Kelsey (Caleb) Koski, Megan (Steve) Puppe, Natalie (Ricky) Johnson; Nick Marino, Mario (Nikki) Marino, Tyler (LaNae) Nelson, Shawnna Robinson; great-grandchildren, Aaron Koski, Chloe Koski, Clyde Koski, Wyatt Koski, Madison Puppe, Sydney Puppe, Spencer Puppe, and Sophia Marino, Brandon Nelson, Brock Nelson, Bianca Robinson, Adyen Robinson; brother Victor (Becky) Becco; sister-in-law, Pat (Bob) Mcarthy, many nieces, nephews, cousins, union brothers and sisters, and friends who will miss him dearly.
