Andy J. Maestas, 75, passed away on January 4, 2026. He was born on September 10, 1950, in La Junta, Colorado, to Joe V. and Jessie Maestas, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian Maestas and Louise Ponce; his brothers, Rudy Maestas, Rishard Maestas, Phillip Maestas, and Dennis Maestas; and his beloved grandson, Anthony Maestas.
Andy attended Centennial High School, where he was a proud Bulldog. He especially enjoyed friendly rivalry during Bell Week with his Central Wildcat granddaughter. He served in the United States military and later retired from CF&I after 32 years of dedicated service in the Blast Furnace.
In his younger years, Andy enjoyed bowling and loved traveling with his children. He found great joy attending Guadalupe dancing events with his girls and visiting Cripple Creek from time to time. He was a devoted father who loved watching his boys wrestle and play football. Andy also worked as a driver for migrant workers. Working with children became some of his most cherished memories.
Andy is survived by his loving children: Renee (Fred) Motes, Mike Maestas, and Crystal (Jesus) Sierra. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren: Vincent (Carissa), Thomas, Zerrick, Ezequel, Xavier, Harley, Serenity, Devida, Breanna, Esai (Gianna), Nayloni, Brian, Hope, Zayoria, Luke, Wyatt, and Casiano. He is also survived by his godson, Mace Rebeterano; his special friend, Dorothy Vigil; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Andy was known for sharing stories, life lessons, and unconditional love with his family, especially his grandchildren. A true jokester, he had a gift for making people laugh and will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and generous heart.
