Athleen Finn Obituary

Athleen P. Finn, 93, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 4, 1932, in La Junta, Colorado, to Doniciano and Albina (Solano) Gomez, who precede her in death along with her beloved husband of 57 years, Silverio Finn; son, Richard Finn; son-in-laws, Larry Bohl and Johnny Martinez; and siblings, Joe Gomez, Marylou (Gene) Maes, and Connie (Sam) Guerrero.

A proud graduate of Avondale High School, Class of 1951, Athleen began her working years helping on local farms, topping onions. She later served as a librarian for the SRDA for three years, where she shared her love of learning and community.

Athleen was passionate about history and enjoyed researching. She found peace in her garden, where she could often be found caring for her beloved roses. She was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Broncos, and she loved her visits to Cripple Creek. Known for her generous heart, Athleen was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

A devout Catholic and faithful member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Athleen attended Mass regularly and prayed her rosary daily. Above all, she cherished her family; sharing stories, life lessons, wisdom, and an abundance of love with each generation.

She is survived by her children: Silverio Lawrence (Carol) Finn, Albina Bohl, Mary Shadbolt, Nettie Finn, Catherine Martinez, and Hazel (Michael) Peralta; siblings: Julian Gomez, Betty (Eddie) Martinez, Patricia (Ruben) Garza, and Alice Gomez; her special furbaby, Dennis the cat; 20 grandchildren, Tara Finn, Lawrence Finn, Sherry Lewis, Angel Mascarenas, Larry Bohl Jr., Andrea Espinoza, Jennifer Shadbolt, Jason Shadbolt, Christina Sanchez, Angelina Gonzales, Jeremy Shadbolt, Richard Shadbolt, Johnette Romero, Joel Martinez, Renee Lucero, Franklin Quintana Jr., Ben Peralta, Aaron Peralta, Richard L. Finn Jr., and Andrew Finn; 59 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
