Augustine R. Marquez, 87, affectionately known as “Augie”, passed away May 26, 2024. He was born January 12, 1937 in Roswell, New Mexico to parents, Amelio and Marie Jessie (Ramirez) Marquez; both precede him in death along with his brother, Manuel Marquez and his in-laws, Cal and Coley Perez.
Augustine proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Post office after 37 years of service. He was a band member of The Trio Azteca, playing at many weddings, birthdays, and funerals. Augustine was an avid pool player, he played for many years in leagues throughout Pueblo. Augie loved sharing his life stories with his family, celebrating, and getting together.
Augustine is survived by his wife, Dolores (Vigil) Marquez; his children, Daniel (Pam) Marquez, Ann Marie (Cruz) Ortega, Antonio Marquez, Annette Martinez, Leonard Naranjo, and Narcisa Naranjo; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; his siblings, Joe (Huong) Marquez, Johnny Marquez, Mary (Kenneth) Garza, Lupe Luna, and Emily (Bridigo) Benavidez; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mass of Christian Burial, 10 am, Thurs., June 6, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
