Beatrice D. Brown, 81, affectionately known as “Torpedo”, a lifetime Puebloan, raised in Salt Creek, passed away on Jan. 11, 2025. She was born August 1, 1943 to parents, Jose and Ruth Garcia Acosta. Both precede her in death along with her husband, Ernest E. Brown; her daughter, Laverne Acosta; her brother, Bennie Acosta Jr.; her sisters, Vicky Acosta, Sally Johnson, and Margaret Solano.
Beatrice enjoyed watching The Broncos, gambling and going to Cripple Creek. Thrift stores were a treat for her. She loved to dress and style with her bling and sequences. Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson were her favorite musicians. She loved attending community events, the B Street Bashes, the State Fair, church festivals, the Chili and Frijoles festival and going to The Riverwalk. Granny’s word was the law. She never sugar coated. Her family meant the world to her. Her sisters were her best friends. Beatrice was the matriarch of 5 generations. She loved sharing her life stories, lessons, words of wisdom and her love with each of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Beatrice leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Linda Diment, Manuel Suazo, Jamie Suazo, and Maria Madden; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; her siblings, Adrian Acosta, Steven Acosta, Michael Acosta, Sandra Jimenez, Veronica (Peter) Hagberg, Lucy Daniels and Mary Acosta-Hill; sister-in-law, Frances Acosta; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved and will miss Beatrice dearly.
