Bernard Pedro Cruz, affectionately known as “Pete”, returned to the arms of Jesus on his 68th birthday after a courageous battle with cancer.
July 9, 1954 - July 9, 2022.
Pete was proceeded in death by his parents, Albert and Benina Cruz; in-laws, James and Eleanor Trujillo; son, Jacob Trujillo; grandsons, Israel Roybal and Angel Roybal; siblings, Aaron, Virginia, Geraldine, and Regina.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 48 years, Nancy (Trujillo) Cruz; children, Pedro (Erica) Cruz and Shonna (Saul) Gutierrez; grandchildren Emilio (Bethany) Cruz, Diego Cruz, Santana Gutierrez, Sophia Gutierrez, Israel Trujillo and Romeo Trujillo; siblings, Eulogio (Lydell) Martinez, Sam (Helen) Martinez, Corrine (Henry) Martinez, Jackie (Herb) Martinez Vigil, Rosie Quezada, Bernadine Lujan and Sylvia Lovato. His bonus children and grandchildren include: Kathy Espinoza, Ruben (Autumn) Candelaria , Joseph Candelaria, Sitalia Candelaria, and Isabella Candelaria, Mateo Ortega, Anastasia, Dominic, Jason, Cassandra, Teru, Phoenix, Haylee, JJ and Melissa.
Pete graduated from Centennial High School in 1972 and proudly served his country. He retired from the US Air Force after 20 years. Pete was a jack of all trades who could fix just about everything. His hobbies included remodeling his home, woodworking, chess, making custom toys, and playing yahtzee with his wife. He loved getting his family together for fellowship, food, fun, games, fishing, camping or just chilling. Pete also loved his kitties who he spoiled rotten. Everyone would call upon him and he would give freely with no strings attached followed by a "God Bless." Pete served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will all his heart. He was always ready to listen, pray and give biblical advice to any one who asked for help. Not only did he speak his faith but he wore it also. You would always find him with a faith-based shirt or a Jesus ball cap on. He often said his treasures were his children and grandchildren, who he was very proud of and his wife who was his heart. He will be greatly missed. His legacy will live in our hearts and memories forever.
