Bernice Gettler

Bernice Gettler, 94, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Arizona. She was born on July 30, 1931, in Walsenburg, Colorado, to Lazaro and Margaret Garza, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Clara Balles, Lily Olguin, Larry Garza, and Joe Garza.

Bernice enjoyed traveling and spending time watching her favorite telenovelas. She found comfort in her daily coffee and took great pleasure in bird watching. A woman of deep faith, Bernice found peace in praying the rosary. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, sharing her faith, love, and stories with those around her.

Bernice leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Mark Gettler and Richard Gettler; her sister, Linda (Nash) Romero; nine grandchildren: Dawn (Kenny) Green, Mark (Lissa) Gettler Jr., Matthew (Kristen) Gettler, Diego (Angelica) Gettler, Luke Gettler, Silveria Gettler, Adrian (Laurissa) Gettler, Jessica (Nick) O’Sick, and Analisa (Zach) Jolley; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
