Bertha R. Martinez, 94, passed away Aug. 17, 2024. She was born Sept. 14, 1929 in Avondale, CO to Frank and Eva (Rael) Sanchez who precede her in death along with her husband, Selso Martinez; son, Alex Martinez; grandson, Mario Mondragon; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Martinez; great-grandson, Joshua Martinez; siblings, Margaret Ortega, Stella Mares, and Alfred Sanchez.
Bertha was a strong woman with a big heart. She had strong faith, and prayed her rosary daily. She was a great cook, the best tortillas. She enjoyed eating, no matter the type of food, and Mill Stop was her favorite restaurant . Some of her favorite shows include: Everyone Loves Raymond, Price is Right, Sanford & Son and Westerns. She enjoyed music, especially mexican music. Bertha was very observant and noticed everything. Bertha loved her children and grandchildren; especially sharing her words of wisdom, life stories, and lessons of the good ole days. She was famous for telling her kids, “I don’t know why you work so much”. She had a great sense of humor. Always giving everyone nicknames.
Bertha leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Bob Martinez, Anthony (Cindy) Martinez, Henry Martinez, Jerry Martinez, Rick (Barbara)Martinez, Virginia Ambriz, Rose (Phil) Casias, Nancy Martinez, Phyllis (Marcelino) Salazar; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; numerous family and friends who will miss her dearly.
