Chemene Marie Maldonado

Chemene Marie Gallegos Korte Maldonado passed away on March 9, 2026. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado to proud parents Wayne Gallegos and Frances Korte on July 16, 1970.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Berlinda and Art Gonzalez; paternal grandparents Alfonso and Ercilia Gallegos; Godparents Tony and Bernice Cruz; uncles Charlie Korte, Ronald vigil, Michael Gallegos and Manuel Gallegos; aunts Faith Avila and Hope Moreno; cousins Manuel Lawrence Gallegos and Drake Thomas.

Chemene leaves behind many loved ones who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her sisters, Crystal Sanchez and Rosa Guzman; brother, Jose Dorado; beloved niece Savanah Cardenas; nephews, Jesse Vigil and Ramiro Soto (Baby Miro); step-siblings, Celeste Martinez, James Diaz, Gabriela and Josiah Martinez and family, along with numerous loving uncles, aunts, and cousins on both sides of the family. Chemene was also blessed with deeply cherished friendships, including Eddie Escobar, Joyce Daniels (Mama Black); and the love of her life, Eric Bills.

Chemene had a strong spirit and a beautiful heart. She had a personality that could light up a room and a smile that brought warmth to everyone around her. Those who knew her knew she was strong-willed and passionate but also loving and deeply devoted to the people in her life. Chemene was a diehard bronco fan and loved to dance.

To her family she was more than a sister, daughter, and friend; she was someone whose presence made life brighter. Her laughter, her stories, and the love she shared will always remain in our hearts.

Though she may no longer walk beside us, her love and memory will live on forever in those who knew and loved her.
