"With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Christopher Marquez-Perez on February 17, 2025. Born on January 1, 1992, Christopher lived a life filled with passion, creativity, and an unwavering spirit. Though his years were fewer than we wished, he truly embraced every experience during his journey among us, leaving an unforgettable impact on everyone who knew him.
Christopher was an artist in every sense of the word and his creativity knew no limits. He turned life into art—raw, unfiltered, and deeply heartfelt. He saw the world differently and had a way of capturing beauty in places most would overlook. His art was more than just an expression; it was a piece of him, left behind for the world to remember.
Though we grieve his loss, we take comfort knowing Christopher is welcomed with open arms by those who went before him—his maternal grandmother, Lorene Ann Perez; his maternal grandfather, Frank Julian Perez; and his closest friends, Isiah Rodriguez and Dylan Reid.
He is survived by his parents, Diana Perez and Benjamin Marquez; his sisters, Andrea Perez, Amy (Chris) Shumake, and Angela Perez; his brothers, Dylan (Emma) Luithly and Alex Luithly; his aunts and uncles, Frank (Leighann) Perez, Gayle (Ricardo) Perez, and Greg Perez; his cherished nieces and nephews, who brought him endless joy, Lily Alvarez, Journey Maes, Emme Shumake, Gabriel Gallegos, Felix Covarrubias, Mason Maes, Bodhi Shumake, and Jose “Jojo” Maes; and cousins, Linda, Sam, Megan, Emily, Richie, and Timothy.
He is also survived by his long-time partner, Marissa Hernandez; his chosen son, DaVion Washington; his faithful four-legged companion, Hammie; and numerous friends and family who will forever cherish his memory.
Chris will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to know him. The world is a little dimmer without him, but we know he’s finally free and leaving his imprint beyond what we can see.
