Daniel Louis Cortez, 39, passed away on December 31, 2025. A lifelong Puebloan, he was born on November 20, 1986, in Pueblo, Colorado. Daniel was the loving son of Evelyn DuVall and Richard Cortez.
Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Edna DuVall, and Richard Jesus and Betty Cortez.
He enjoyed working on cars, tinkering, and taking things apart. He also loved playing horseshoes, a cherished family tradition. Daniel found joy in walking the neighborhoods of Pueblo, meeting people from all walks of life. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, making sure they had something to eat and something to drink. He is fondly remembered as “Danimo,” our hero. He is now in the hands of the Lord.
Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Evelyn DuVall (Boi); his father, Richard Cortez; his children, DJ, Adrian, and Phoenix; his siblings, Richard Cortez Jr. and Julian (La Rae) DuVall; his godparents, Claudette Munoz and Louis Gutierrez; his aunts and uncles, Corrine (Vern) Jaramillo, Vincent (June) DuVall, Stephen (Donna) DuVall, Claudette (Alfredo) Munoz, and Dominick DuVall; as well as numerous cousins and friends.
