Daniel "Jake" Chavez Obituary

Daniel Jake Chavez, 53 passed away April 19, 2026.  Born on June 28, 1972 to proud parents Henry Chavez and Mary S. (Morales) Chavez in Farmington, New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his father Henry Chavez and nephew Lawrence “Lencho” DeHerrera.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Chavez; son, Trestan Chavez; siblings, Marie DeHerrera, Valerie (Albert) Solis, Lisa (Steve) Chavez, Hank Chavez, Richard (Rayma) Chavez and James (Jasmin) Chavez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Daniel, known by many as Jake, was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend.  He was a man of many talents. He was excellent at drawing and cooking and metal work.  He enjoyed listening to Rock N Roll, Ozzy and Metallica were a few of his favorites.   He enjoyed working on cars with his brothers Hank and Richard.  His pride and joy was his 70 ½ Chevy Camero. Boy, he loved that car!

He spent many years working in the industrial industry.  He traveled quite a bit for work.  He was a hard worker who put pride into his craftsmanship.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that would ask.  You could always count on him being there.  He enjoyed being outdoors. Whether it was gardening, mountain biking, taking care of his animals, fishing with his father and son.  He also loved deep-sea fishing in the pacific coast with his son Trestan and brother James.  He was fearless and lived for the moment.  Always making time for the little things.

He had a special bond with each of his siblings. Connecting with each one over their “thing”.  His bond with his mom was extra special.  They spent quality time together working on her quilts.  He made sure to give her a hug and kiss goodnight every night.

Jake was an avid Broncos fan.  He loved watching football with his family. He loved his family and enjoyed the family gatherings.  He loved taking pictures of anything that caught his eye, capturing the moment.  His family will remember him as a loving, supportive man with a big heart.

He will forever be loved and missed.
