Darold D. Shaffhausen, 98, passed away May 25, 2024 in Pueblo, CO. He was born June 22, 1925 in Tabor, South Dakota to John and Mearle (Robbins) Shaffhausen, both who precede him in death along with sister, Velda Hajek.

Darold served in the US Navy during World War II as a Yeoman 2nd Class. He was a courier for Admiral Strubel. Darold graduated from South Dakota University with a master’s degree in animal husbandry. He was a tour guide for the Custer State Park in South Dakota for many years. He was proud to be the longest living member of the American Legion in South Dakota.  He enjoyed gambling, and was very lucky. He loved to travel, pulling his RV behind him.

Darold leaves to cherish his memory; nephew, Larry (Carolyn) Hajek; great nieces, Kellie Hajek, Lonny Hajek, Shannon (Scott) Bethel; great-great nieces and nephews, Shandi, Shelbi, Joshua, Bella, Brady, and Miranda. He will be missed dearly.
