David Abeyta, 51, affectionately known as “Dave”; passed away May 26, 2024. A lifetime Puebloan, he was born September 13, 1972 to Robert and Lillian (Segura) Abeyta. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Abeyta; brother, Joseph Abeyta; grandmother, Eusebia Baca; grandfathers, Tony Baca and Cirilio Segura; brother-in-law, Mark Arellano; niece, Christie Ruppel.
Dave graduated from Centennial High School and the University of Southern Colorado. Dave held many positions in the financial industry in Pueblo, as a commercial banker, Vice President/Senior Relationship Manager of Wells Fargo and Market President of Vectra Bank to name a few. Dave was proud of his Pueblo Community and spent countless hours serving on the Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation; the Latino Chamber of Commerce; United Way of Pueblo County; Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce; Southern Colorado Economic Development Committee; St. Mary Corwin Board of Trustees; 10th Judicial Nominating Commission; PEDCO Finance Committee, and the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority.
Dave leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Janelle (Arellano) Abeyta; children, Tyler Abeyta, Lauryn Abeyta (Anthony Soto), Anthony Abeyta; mother, Lillian Abeyta; brothers, Robert (Barb) Abeyta and Gerald (Linda) Abeyta; in-laws, Deacon Jake and Jeannine Arellano; 26 nieces and nephews; numerous in-laws, friends, and colleagues that will miss him dearly.
While Dave was passionate about serving his community, his family was his pride and joy and he loved them fiercely. Dave was extremely proud of his children and enjoyed cheering them on, and we are extremely proud of the man he was and the legacy he has left behind. He will be forever missed and always loved.
