Della Olivia Espinosa, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver, passed peacefully at home on April 29, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on
March 27, 1945, in the San Luis Valley of Colorado to Filberto Medina and Casilda Lucero.
On January 19, 1966, in Pueblo, Colorado, Della married the love of her life, Thomas Espinosa. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family. From their union came six children: Tony Espinosa, Josie Mahan, Christopher Espinosa, Michael Espinosa, Eric Espinosa and baby Christina Espinosa.
Della was the heart of her home, a dedicated homemaker and compassionate caregiver who always placed others before herself. She was known for her quiet strength,
unwavering loyalty, and deep devotion to her family. Though she faced illness for many years, she carried herself with grace and resilience, never complaining or allowing her struggles to burden those she loved. She was truly a warrior in every sense. She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. Della loved to travel, especially to the beaches she adored. She enjoyed searching for silver dollars, exploring mines, and visiting museums. Some of her favorite places to visit were San Diego and Las Vegas, where she created cherished memories with her family.
Della is preceded in death by her mother and father, her daughter Baby Christina, brother Ernesto, grandson Josh, and her stepchildren Jerry and Debbie.
Della is lovingly remembered by her husband, Thomas Espinosa; her children, Tony Espinosa (Theresa), Josie Mahan (Rich), Christopher Espinosa (Yolanda), Michael
Espinosa (Elea), and Eric Espinosa; her siblings; Orlie (Ruby) Johnito, Frank, George, and Isabela; her grandchildren, Eric, Christopher, Cierra, Robert, Cassandra “Cassie,” Ricky, Adriana; and her nine great-grandchildren.
Her love, care, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by family and friends whose lives she enriched with her
kindness and strength.
