Demetrius Devon Collins

Demetrius Devon Collins,  28,  affectionately known as “Meechie”, passed away June 21, 2021. He was born March 19, 1993 in Chicago, IL to Douglas Devon Collins and Deserae Shante Bradley. He is preceded in death by his mother, Deserae Bradley.

Demetrius attended middle school in Chicago, IL and completed High School at Pueblo Central High with honors. Meechie had many passions in life, but dancing by far was his love. He implemented the dance programs for students at Central High School that is still in place. He then attended Intellitec College studying Massage Therapy.

Meechie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Sunrise Baptist Church in Chicago, IL under the leadership of Pastor Leo Sturry in 2012.

Demetrius’ life although short lived, was full of vitality, courageous, spontaneousness, prideful, and lots of love for people. He was a very social and free spirited person. Never a dull moment when he was in the presence of others, and always had a beautiful smile and comforting word for everyone.

Meechie leaves many to mourn his departure this realm including his father, Devon Douglas Collins, sister Desire Darcell Johnson; brother, Dekarai Desmond Hughes; grandmothers, Denise Collins and Gwen Howard; great-grandmothers, Mildred C. Collins (Minnesota) and Elsie Weekley (Chicago); great-aunt, Sabrina Jones (Chicago); uncles, Jason Bradley (Pueblo, CO) and Dennis C. Collins (Chicago); 6 great uncles; 6 great aunts;  aunts, Michelle Fulton(Chicago), Sherrice Fulton (Chicago), Diane Blakely (Minn.), Brenda France (Michigan) a multitude of close cousins and friends. Meechie was special to so many, and so many was special to him. He will sorely be missed by all.
