Donna Kay Martinez, 77, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, at her home in Pueblo, CO surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 18, 1947, in Salida, CO to Adelaido Aragon and Clara Nieto Aragon.
Donna had a beautiful and memorable smile and lived her life dedicated to being a wife, mother, teacher, and friend to thousands of students in her 35+ years of teaching. She taught 1st grade at Bessemer Elementary, 1st & 3rd grade at Highland Park, Fountain Elementary, and finished her career at CSU Pueblo. Donna lived with an enthusiasm for life, nature, and helping others. She enjoyed gardening, hiking, music, cooking for her family, and tutoring students in reading.
Donna met her husband Donald Martinez at Southern Colorado State College (SCSC), and they were married on April 20, 1968. Family and friends alike admire their love story and commitment to one another over the past 57 years.
Donna is survived by her husband Don Martinez, daughter Renee Martinez Stone (Gordon Stone), sons Bryan Martinez (Robin Ramirez), Jeff Martinez, and grandchildren Maya Stone, Alexandra Stone, Trayton Martinez, and her sisters Jeanne Vartanian and Joanna Ordaz. Preceded in death by her parents and sister Janice McDowell.
Donna will be remembered for her ability to see, understand and generously support others. Her positive spirit and generosity will never be forgotten.
Funeral Mass, 2 pm, Fri., April 11, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church(Pueblo).
In lieu of flowers, donations will go to a higher education or vocational stipend for a student(s) from Southern CO.
