Dora Mary Acuña, 88, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Pueblo, she was born on October 3, 1936, to Fidel and Rafaelita Jimenez.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Salvador J. Acuña; her parents; siblings Octavia Garza, John Jimenez, Edward Jimenez, Alfredo Jimenez, Mary Jimenez, and Alex Jimenez; as well as her in-laws, Jose A. and Dolores M. Acuña.
Dora was the heart of her family; a steady, strong, and calming presence. She lived her life with grace and consistency, always showing up for those she loved. Dora found joy in dancing, singing, and playing her favorite music at full volume. A woman of deep faith, she was devoted to praying the rosary daily and enjoyed her peaceful walks around the neighborhood.
Dining out and shopping were among her favorite pastimes, and she embraced them with enthusiasm. She was a loyal supporter of her children and grandchildren, rarely missing a sporting event or school activity. Dora shared a close bond with her Jimenez family, often traveling to Denver to visit her siblings. Most of all, she cherished passing down her stories, wisdom, and unconditional love to her family.
She is survived by her children: Salvador Joseph (Angie Loya Flores) Acuña, Alexander Joseph Acuña, Lisa Marie Acuña, Edward “Eddie” (Monica) Acuña, Daniel (Iskra) Acuña, and Jesus J. (Koralia) Acuña; grandchildren: Arriana Dora Acuña, Andres Miguel Acuña, Andrea Acuña, Alexander Acuña Jr., Aziel Acuña, Soraya Acuña, Gali Acuña, and Aili Acuña; and one and only great-granddaughter, Nylah Rae Acuña. Dora is also survived by her sister, Lucy Sandoval, and former daughter-in-law, Aurora Martinez.
A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Leander Church, 1402 E. 7th St., Pueblo, CO. Inurnment will take place at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO.
