Dr. Douglas Norville Schat, 65, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. Douglas was born in Heidelberg, Germany to Jack W. and Susan A. (Tanka) Schat. Both precede him in death along with his brother, David Schat.
Dr. Douglas Schat started his career in law enforcement at the Sheriff Department and completed it within the Pueblo/Canon City Parole Department as a Parole Officer for the Department of Corrections (DOC). Dr. Schat earned both his PHD and master’s degree through the University of Colorado, Summa Cum Laude.
Doug was known for his strong work ethic, Honor, Honesty and Integrity. Doug enjoyed the gym, wrestling and time with family & friends. “I’ve got your six!” Doug loved his beloved wife Lisa who has been by his side throughout his journey.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Marie Schat; sons, Brynae Galbraith and Ty Mishmash; daughter, Amber Schat; grandchildren, Cleo and Chloe; Lisa’s siblings, Laura Lucero, Linda C’deBaca (Clint), Patricia (Dennis) Sena, Joseph Lucero, Loraine (Bob) Torres, and Lynn (Greg) Leyba; along with numerous nephews, nieces and fur doggies, Westly, Samie, Baby, Lovie, and Chuchu.
Funeral Service, 10 am, Thurs., Jan. 8, 2026 at Praise Assembly.
