Dr. Michael Thomas Rendler, beloved physician, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, in Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 77. Born on January 22, 1949, in Madison, Wisconsin, Mike dedicated his life to the service of others through the practice of medicine.
He was a proud member of the first graduating class of the Southern Colorado Family Medicine Residency at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, established in 1975. This pioneering program was formed during the early years of Family Medicine as a recognized specialty with a mission to bring comprehensive care to underserved and rural communities—a mission Mike embraced wholeheartedly throughout his career.
A true family practice physician in every sense, Dr. Rendler did it all. From delivering babies to assisting in surgery, caring for hospitalized patients, making home visits, and providing compassionate end-of-life care, he served his patients with unwavering dedication. He also served his country as a physician in the United States Army, further exemplifying his lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Dr. Rendler was known among his patients and colleagues as a kind, attentive, and deeply compassionate man who always made time for those in his care. His contributions to the Pueblo community are immeasurable, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, as well as in the providers he mentored throughout his career.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Rendler and Eileen Rendler (Elmer). Mike is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Rendler (Webb), whom he cherished as his best friend and constant companion; his two sons, Nicklaus (Jamie - Chaela and Karlin) and Jason; his sisters, Sue and Theresa; his brothers, Rich and Russ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
To his family, Mike was a precious gift. He took great joy in hearing the stories and adventures of those he loved. He celebrated his beloved grandchildren’s accomplishments with enthusiasm and pride, always ready with a bit of witty banter or a signature corny joke that brought smiles to those around him. His warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others made him deeply loved by all who knew him.
Mike will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his compassion, his humor, and his extraordinary dedication to both his family and his community.
Private family services to be held at a later date.
