Edward Troy Salazar, 53, passed away July 15, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born October 8, 1970 to parents, Edward Salazar and Ursula “Ersie” (Arellano) Manzanares, who both precede him in death along with his grandparents, John and Cindy Salazar.
Troy was an only child, but had many aunts, cousins and friends. His friends were not just friends but family. They called him brother and the kids whom he loved called him “Tio” or “Uncle T”. Troy was an exceptional person, he excelled in all he did. At an early age he became a Black belt and taught classes with adults, older and taller than him. He was a star football player for Central High School, playing quarter back. He earned the name the “The Blade” his freshman year, which he would be affectionately referred to throughout his life. He earned a Gold Cord in High School, graduated with a bachelor's in economics from Colorado College and went on to earn his Masters. Troy’s work ethic was matched by his hard work, success and the fact that he always put 100% into all he did. Troy had a heart of gold, gratitude, and generosity. His family is saddened by the unexpected loss of this man who was loved by so many.
Troy is survived by his aunts and uncles, Roseann Benegas, Jennie Nunez, Dolores (Ralph) Quintana, Lorraine Ortega, Ernestine Lucero, Maria Rodriguez, John Salazar, Sharon Garbiso, and Sandra Garcia; stepfather; Gilbert Manzanares, his beloved cousins, Jared (Sylvia) Perea, Ramon Martinez, Matrina (Joseph) Vega, Joseph (Misty) Perea, Marisa Nunez, Jose Ortega and Thomas Lara; numerous nieces, cousins and friends to include special friends, Mark (Rosita) Gonzales, Mathew (Andrea) Gomez, Sonny (Celina) Apodaca, Ken Sciacca (Gena Rosales), Caroline Trani, Guy Mayber (Genevieve Murray), and Steve (Darcy) Chen; God-daughters, Gabrielle Rae Espinoza and Alyssa Gonzales, who loved and will miss Troy dearly.
