Elias Rudy Manzanares affectionately known as “Rudy”, 71, passed away unexpectedly May 1, 2023. A lifetime Puebloan, he was born May 5, 1951 to parents Elias A. and Erma J. Manzanares. They both precede him in death along with mother-in-law Cordy I. Trujillo; brothers-in-law Dale Garcia and Mike Atencio; niece Bridget Garcia and goddaughter Nicole Gallegos. Rudy graduated from Centennial High School in 1969, he went on to receive his Associate Degree of Criminology in 1974. Rudy retired from the Pueblo Police Dept as Sergeant of Crimes Against Person Unit (CAP) with 34 years of service. Rudy met and married the love of his life Christina and they were married for over 53 years. Taking care of her was his #1 priority. They enjoyed their long rides listening to Willie's roadhouse. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his favorite TV programs and going shopping. His biggest joy was following his grandchildren in all their sports activities. Rudy was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and friend. He was very dedicated to his entire family, always willing to lend a helping hand. Rudy is survived by his wife Christina Manzanares; daughters Regina (Tim) Urenda, Denise Manzanares and Katrina (Darren) Gomez; father figure to grandchildren Elias C. Manzanares and Christina L. Manzanares; grandchildren Adam Urenda, Timothy (Brittany) Urenda, Angelique Urenda, Elias C. Manzanares, Christina L. Manzanares (Shadow) and Lili Hanes; great grandchild Kinley; sister Annette Garcia; sister-in-law Susie Atencio; brother-in-law John (Irene) Trujillo; godsons Michael Trujillo and Travis Zuniga; close friend Dave Santos and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He will be in our hearts forever. Rosary 7 pm Tues. May 16, 2023 and Funeral Mass 10 am Wed. May 17, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
