Esther A. Herrera, 89, passed away September 13, 2024, a lifetime Puebloan. She was born on March 7, 1935, in Pueblo, Colorado to Fidel and Valeria (Vallejo) Arriaga, who precede her in death, along with her loving husband Benjamin Herrera, who she is now reunited with; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Esther dedicated 30 years of service at the Colorado State Hospital as a Psych Tech. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church where she volunteered and helped in any way, especially for their Annual Spaghetti dinner. Esther was known for her pumpkin and banana bread; she would always bake and give to everyone.
Esther was the proud Matriarch of four generations. She loved being with her grandchildren who were the apples of her eyes. She never missed any of their sporting events, she was always there to cheer them on. Her two great grandchildren were her latest joy.
She loved flowers, especially her peonies that she grew in her yard, but her true love and dedication was with her family; her children, grandchildren, brothers & sisters, nieces and nephews. She loved spending time and sharing stories with each of them.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory: her children Rhonda (Steve) Anselmo and Vanessa Herrera; sister Helen (Ed) Montoya; grandchildren: Gianna (AJ) Teel, Rachel (Brody) Fretthold, Lyndsey (Anthony Romero) Anselmo; great-grandchildren: Marlee Teel, Walker Teel; In-law, Marlene Anselmo; a host of other relatives to include Denise Gutierrez, several nieces, nephews and numerous church friends.
Funeral Mass, Friday 1 PM September 20, 2024 at Shrine of St. Therese. Online Condolences at angeluspueblo.com
