Felix DeJesus Perez-Medina Obituary

Felix DeJesus Perez-Medina 92, a celebrated Executive Chef & Maître d of many genres, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 15, 2025 in Denver, Colorado.

Born in Manati, Cuba and raised in Victoria de Las Tunas, Cuba. Felix began his early adventures on a plantation with his parents Jose & Josefa (Ruiz) Perez-Medina, who proceed him in death.

Felix dedicated his life to the Culinary Arts and the Hospitality Industry. Leaving us with a legacy of exceptional Cuisine and Fine dining.

He was poised in his studies at The Belmont Abby in Piedmont, North Carolina in 1959.

He and his Father left Cuba to San Jose, Costa Rica and then he continued on to Europe where he sold Encyclopedia Britannica's & Bibles and applied for a Visa to come to America in 1963.

He tried politics in Washington with his brother Raul, but it was not his forte. He joined the Interstate Highway System and made his way to San Francisco, California where he finished his bachelor’s degree at the University of San Francisco and then went on to marry Maria K. Abeyta (d.1996) and started his Family in 1969.

He became a stepfather to Anthony E. Gonzales (d.2021) & Carla Marie Gonzales and a father to three daughters, Felixa, lsolina & Mickey Medina.

In 1979 he moved his family to Denver, Colorado where he began using his skills at Chateau Pyrenees. He then went on to work at Hiwan Golf Club, Lakewood Country Club & The Lodge Casino just to name a few. We will forever miss Felix' creativity and innovation in the kitchen where he used his masterful techniques on his family's favorite dishes (Paella & Black Beans & Rice) but, beyond his dedication to the kitchen he cherished his Grandchildren, Great-Grand Children for whom he had a special bond with Derrick (Cheri)Dante, Darryl, Derricka Medina, Michael Swaw, Ghassan (d.2015), Aaron(d.2020) lzaiah, Daevin, Richy, Nathan(Lexi), Deja, Login, Cyrus Gonzales, Mycca, lgnacyo, Cvantez Pham, Dominick Maynes-Medina, Brandon Felix, J.J. (Rachel),  Abby, Gionna , Divian Medina, Julian (Nicolette) Celia, Marcella, Kimberly, Katori Barela, Keaunahrai (Isaiah), Ashton Butts, Bobbie-Marie (Payton) & Rob-Mateo Vigil and two Great Great Grandchildren, Allani and Legacy; son-in-law Roman Maynes whom he watched a lot of Basketbal with. Felix was an avid Colorado Rockies baseball and Denver Nuggets Fan.
