Forest Sims, 68, passed away May 20, 2024. He was born in Matador, Texas on Feb. 29, 1956 to parents, Jessie T. and Glouris (Portillos) Sims. Both precede him in death along with his father-in-law, Thomas Andrews Sr.; siblings, Erma Gene Sims (Arthur) McCuen Jr., Joyce Roberson, Ernest B., Herbert Sr., Don Ray, and Carlton Sims Sr.; granddaughter, Aaliyah Andrews; great grandchildren, Caden King and little buddie “Askhim”.
Forest was a great gardener, he could grow anything, he had that magical green thumb. He was a hard worker and a great provider. Forest loved to cook, he made the best brisket and greens. You never left his home hungry. He was an awesome dominoes player. Forest had a great personality; he could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved to share his life lessons, words of wisdom and his love for everyone. Forest loved to share the word of the Lord and had a very strong faith. His family meant so much to him.
Forest is survived by his wife, Lori Andrews-Sims; children, Gwendalyn Drewy; Seagram (Crystal) Sims, Kimberly Sims and Caleb Ragland; 4 grandchildren, Danae (Jerrell), Jasolyn, Tomire, and Demitric; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Jessie Mae Brown, Jewell (James) Alvarado, Glouris (Robert) Long, Paulette McGavisk, Vivian (Charlie) Campbell, Jessie Sims Jr., and Clayton (Deborah) Sims; in-laws, Dorothy Segura Andrews, Catherine Segura, Michael Segura, Karen (Ernie) Munoz, and Tommy (Jennifer) Andrews; his 4 legged companion “BabyGirl”; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him.
Funeral Service, 10 am, Sat., June 1, 2024 at Angelus Chapel.
