Gilbert E. Trujillo, 84, affectionately known as Grandpa NoNo, passed away Oct. 19, 2023. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on March 27, 1939. Preceded in death by his parents, Johnny D. Trujillo and Mary (Clinton) Irwin; brothers, Tommy Trujillo and Albert Quiming; sons, Kevin Trujillo, Brian Trujillo and Gil Trujillo; grandson, Zachary Trujillo.
Gilbert proudly served in the Marines from 1956-1964 where he was an MP in Vietnam. He worked as a custodian for schools and hospitals in Pueblo, was head of Maintenance at the CF & I Union Hall and was a proud member of Local 2102 IBEW. Gilbert was a baseball/softball coach and even umpired at Bessemer Field. He was a bowler, dart player and pool player. He also played both drums and piano which was self-taught. He played in bands, both civilian and military. He could sing beautifully, sang in the band and in church, either solo, with the choir or duets with his daughter. Gilbert loved telling jokes, playing the scratch tickets and having his sweets.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Jean Trujillo; daughter, Valerie Kashinskie; sisters, Marilyn (Frank) Perez and Delma Trujillo; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family and friends who loved and will miss him.
