Gilbert "Randy" Valdez Obituary

Gilbert Randal "Randy" Valdez left his earthly body, after a long, hard-fought battle, on December 20, 2024.

Randy is reunited with his special grandmother, Eloisa Lopez Roybal, grandfather Ramon Roybal, Mucio and Genoveva (Lucero) Valdez, his father Gilbert 'Valdy' Valdez, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Randy is survived by his mother Margaret Roybal, sister Valerie Valdez, children Lauren (Jeremy) McDonald, Caitlyn (Hank) Chambers, Raegan Iovinella, and honorary daughter Laryssa Jensen, nephew Alex Martinez (Frank Martinez), grandchildren Jamysun, Landen, Joeylin, Loegan, Jacyann, Jilyonn, Paxtyn, Cohen, Prestyn, Jensen, Tobias, Evie, and great nephew Xander, along with many other friends and family.

Randy was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Margaret and Gilbert Valdez. Growing up he was an avid sports guy building football fields out of laundry detergent, playing any sport, he could. His love for baseball was unmatched, later being the biggest New York Yankees fan around, he went to Boulder for some time before settling in Pueblo and graduating as an East Eagle. From there, he began his work with Kmart, where he stayed for some 37 years, making lots of lifelong friends along the way. In 1989, he became a father followed by two more girls in 1992 and 1996. He passed his love with baseball down to his girls and so far, three of his grandsons.

Randy retired in 2017 and was always with one of his girls doing things with his grandkids, whether it was watching their games and recitals or just hanging out on the couch watching TV with them.

After some health issues had him repeatedly hospitalized, he fought his hardest  battle and let go to be in peace with the Lord in the early hours of December 20th.

We pray hard now is that you are with Grandpa golfing, talking, baseball and enjoying yourself once again.  You were stubborn, loud, and a great man who felt and loved everything to the fullest.

We miss you dearly, daily, and always.
