Howard Anthony “Howie” Peters, born January 23rd, 1958 in Olean, NY to Raymond and Alberta Peters passed away on February 4th, 2020 in Colorado Springs, CO surrounded by his family.
On February 14, 1981, he married the love of his life, Terry Shearer in Olean, New York. Their marriage was a testament of strength, resilience, and most importantly love. Over the course of their 39 years together, they proved that love knows no bounds and helped to establish this same sentiment into the lives of their children.
Howard spent his adult life serving others and sharing his testimony of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Howie was a mechanic by trade and prided himself with his knowledge of vehicles and his ability to help others with even the simplest task. He spent the majority of his employment with Cubic Storage in Olean, NY. At the time of his death, he was a customer service representative with O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Pueblo, CO. In addition to his service in the automotive realm, Howie served in the New York National Guard, 42nd ID for 14 years. He was a proud American and proud of his service to his country.
The one thing that most defined Howard Peters was his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In his spare time, Howie provided ministry to amputees and volunteered at missions to help share his testimony. He was a member of Community Ministries International (CMI) and a founding member of the Military Support Group. No matter where Howie was or who he was talking to, he never missed the opportunity to help spread the word of the Lord.
In addition to his love for the Lord, he also loved being a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He enjoyed attending football games and birthday parties as well as “Face-timing” his grandchildren when provided the opportunity. He cherished his yearly anniversary trips to Red Lobster with his wife and their movie dates. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, a NASCAR fan, and Top-Fuel drag racing fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alberta Peters. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 39 years, Terry Peters of Pueblo, CO; his children Trevor R. Peters (Summer) of Fort Polk, LA, Kristina Ayers (Calon) of Clarksville, TN, Merle Peters of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kenda Gray (John) of Philadelphia, NY; six grand-children; two great-grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held this summer in Olean, NY.
