James Mitchell Obituary

 The Seasons of His Life

A time to be born:
James Quander Mitchell was born on June 29, 1940, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, to the late Lewis Albert and Maude Elizabeth Mitchell. He grew up in an Italian Village, located in Howellville, Pennsylvania, forming long lasting memories.

A time to learn:
James was educated in the Tredyffrin East Town School System. He joined the US Air Force on Sept 30 1961. He served his country for 20 years and retired.

A time for career:
James was dedicated to his military career.
He served proudly. He started his career at Amarillo AFB, Amarillo, Texas. Completing Basic Training and Technical School. He was reassigned to Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan for two years. He was then assigned to Taiwan Air Station, Taipei, Taiwan for two years. He was then assigned to Griffiss AFB, Rome, New York. He was then assigned to Udorn AFB, Thailand. After being in Thailand for four months he was sent to Vietnam for the duration of that assignment.

A time to unite:
James met and married the love of his life, Lynda Ann Lee of Memphis, Tennessee August 19, 1963. From this union were three children. Anthony Mitchell, Kimberly Lichtenberger, and Sonya Meyer. In-laws, Kimberly (Jon) Lichtenberger, Anthony (Paula) Mitchell and Sonya (Daniel) Meyer.
We were blessed with five grandchildren, Dominique Boteler, James Pierre Mitchell, Tanner Mitchell, Jana Meyer, and Luca Meyer. Also one great grandson, Jacob Boteler. 

Other family members who will cherish his memory, his sisters, Kay and Louise Mitchell, sister-in-law, Joan Mitchell; several nieces and nephews, Rodney Mitchell, Louella and Arbutus Mitchell, Billy and Lisa Mitchell, Elizabeth (Toby) Mitchell, Kelly Hughes, Robert Hughes, Mark and Tracey Anderson, Cherese Mitchell, Jennell Mitchell, Renee Blount, and Novelle Mitchell Lincoln; a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins who are mourning the loss of their “Uncle Jimmy”

A time for family:
James was actively involved in his children’s education, sports, dance lessons, music lessons. Being a “taxicab driver” was another career.

James and Lynda enjoyed their 50th Wedding Anniversary, August 19, 2013. Upon his departure on November 14, 2024, they were married 61 years! May James Rest In Peace!
