Javier Garcia Obituary

Javier Joaquin Garcia, 14, passed away April 2, 2024. A lifetime Puebloan, he was born December 7, 2009 to proud parents, Dominic and Jennifer (Barela) Garcia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dominic Garcia; grandparents, Andres and Marie Garcia; and uncle, Ezequiel “Zeke” Garcia.

Javier was a student at Las Animas Online Academy, but he loved his PAA family. He loved riding bikes, both BMX and dirt. He was an expert at riding wheelies. He enjoyed cruising, riding around town, listening to music, going bowling and hanging out with his friends. He loved being outside. The snowy days were his favorite. He hustled snow shoveling jobs, whenever he could.

Javier was a natural leader, whether it was helping guide his siblings or telling his friends what to do.  He cared for his family deeply, always checking in on them and worrying about their well-being. Javier was small in stature, but loved to eat even though he was super picky, hot and spicy and Dr Pepper were his ultimate favorites.

Javier was a jokester with a great sense of humor, always tormenting someone, especially his mom. He was adventurous and paid attention to the details you’d never expect. He was a deep thinker. He loved being a big brother to his siblings. He was here for only 14 years, but his maturity was far beyond his age.

Javier’s heart continues to beat on and will continue to experience new places and adventures through organ donation. Even though he is not here with us, his gifts of life have brought so much joy to families across the country.

Javier is survived by his parents, Dominic and Jennifer (Barela) Garcia; siblings, Tanisha (Brian Atencio) Garcia, Esperanza (Maurice) Acuna, Jacob Naranjo, Mario Garcia, Isabella Garcia, and Miranda Garcia; grandparents, Janet Hendrix and Gil Barela; uncles and aunts, Adam Barela, Lola (Brandon) Garcia, and Israel Garcia; nephews and nieces, Kaiden Fernandez Garcia, Roman Acuna, Brenley Garcia, Daniella Garcia, Gabriella Garcia and Karma Atencio; numerous family members and friends who loved and will miss him.
