Jay Douglas Fosdick was born to Henry and Melba (Tadlock) Fosdick on March 7, 1947 and rode off into the sunset to his new home in heaven on March 22, 2025. Jay was born and raised in Fowler, CO and he was extremely proud to have been a fifth generation Fowler Fosdick. He lived in Fowler most of his life and it was his only true home.
Jay graduated from Fowler High School in 1965 and served in the United States Air Force soon after. He married Jacque Grooms in 1972 and together they had four daughters- Julene, Jayme, Jeana, and Joy. Jay and Jacque divorced in 1995.
Jay worked with his dad and brothers on the family ranch for many years and loved the freedom and solitude that came with being a cowboy. He served on the Fowler School Board of Education for several years and as the municipal court judge. Jay had a special love for music and entertaining and socializing with friends. He played the guitar and fiddle and loved to get together with his band whenever he could. Jay was a member of the Danish Brotherhood and enjoyed the many dances and activities held at the Dane Hall.
Jay loved a good joke, Winston cigarettes, and learning something new every day. After lunch he could be found reading the dictionary or encyclopedia and was interested in everything. He was always inventing something and even rode the train to Washington D.C. once to get a patent for one of his inventions. Jay was very creative, enjoying painting, sculpting, building, and tinkering. Later in life, he enjoyed traveling and visiting places he’d never been.
Jay was very proud of his family and loved spending time with his daughters and grandkids. He is survived by daughters Julene (Junior) Romero, Jayme (Mike) Goscha, Jeana (Gabe) Geringer, and Joy (Jason) Love; grandchildren Kai (Breann) Geringer, Canaan (Jacy) Geringer, Claire Geringer, Tess Goscha, and Payton Love; great-grandchildren Stetson, Saigley, Marshall, and Shepherd; brother Sam Fosdick and sisters Emily Nesselhuf and Georgia Dunsmoor, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Melba, sisters Martha, Louise, Ruth, and Clara; brothers Grant and Tony; and grandson Trent Goscha.
At his request cremation.
