Joe Martinez was born August 9, 1950 to Ernestina and Fidel Martinez in Monte Vista, Colorado. He was proceeded in death by both parents, his sisters Sarah, Bertha, Rosine, Ruth his brothers Micheal and Uncle Jr. Survived by his sisters Patty, Grace, and his brothers Alfred, George and Fredo; His three children Kathy Martinez, Gerald Martinez and Jodi Martinez; His beloved grandkids, Bianca, Robert, ArraCxelii, Jose and ArriCxeniah; and his great grandchildren Nyamiah, Keziyah and Adrien.
Joe served in the US Army from 09/18/1970 to 09/17/1971. He defended his country proudly during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Service Star, a National Defense Service medal and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Upon returning to his hometown, Joe spent the rest of his career building houses throughout the San Luis Valley for the Federal Housing Administration.
Some of his favorite past times were working on his cars for hours on end, drinking his morning coffee outside to enjoy the sun and attending the flea markets searching for treasures which consisted of nuts, bolts and screws.
