Joe "Pappa" "Jesse" Lucero Obituary

Joe (Jesse – Pappa) Lucero, 76, suddenly passed away on January 22, 2025.  He was born on April 4, 1948 in Monte Vista, Colorado to parents, Fredrico and Emma (Rascon) Lucero.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Tenorio-Lucero, parents, Fredrico and Emma (Rascon) Lucero, siblings, Louis (Chop Chop) Vigil, Joe Salazar, Erlinda Garcia, Theresa Lucero, Lorenzo Ulibarri and Tony Lucero, son-in-law, Randy Sanchez numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Donnita (Derrick)Vigil, Daphine Schilling, grandchildren, Brianna, Jessica, Brittany (Cody), Deja (RJ), Derrick (Larrissa), Brandon, Heaven and Julia, great grandchildren, D’Angelo, Tayt, Remedy, Esmay, Delilah, Deira and Teddy, siblings, Fred Lucero, Andrew Lucero, Oliva Lucero, Gloria Valdez and Becky Lucero, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family.

Joe was a family man who raised his daughters on his own with the help of his village. He had many hobbies; his most favorite was his lottery tickets. He also loved to go fishing, to listen to New Mexico Spanish music, to go on car rides, and to go to the flea market on weekends like clockwork - if the weather was nice. He was always out looking for the next bargain or treasures he could not leave for someone else. He loved going to Wal-Mart and it had to be the one on the south side, where he would get his stockpile of Pepsi and chocolate. He was always tinkering around, and if something was broken, you would find him working on it in his garage; and if all else failed, he would call his daughters for back-up.  He took pride in the upkeep of his yard; and with that, he took care of his daughter’s as well. He didn’t stop there; he even worked on his neighbor’s yards as well. During many of these occasions you would find his best four-legged friends by his side: Trouble, Buddha and Oliver; The Four Amigos (as he likes to call them) getting things done. However, the most precious and important of all for him was any time he could get with family, whether it would be dinners, holidays and get togethers; he loved having everyone at his house surrounding him.

Jesse will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who loved him.
