Jose J. Diaz, 90, peacefully passed away on April 5, 2024. A lifetime Puebloan, he was born April 9, 1933, to proud parents Leopaldo and Concepcion (Garcia) Diaz, both precede him in death along with his wife Rita B. Diaz; and his siblings, Joaquin (Cordelia) Diaz, Manuel (Maria) Diaz, Luther Diaz, Leo (Hope) Diaz, Elaine (Mario) Cruz, Vera (Max) Apodaca and Sophie McIlwain.
Jose was a trailblazer in Television Communications for Channel 5 with 40 yrs. of service. Sharing his wealth of knowledge in television and production, helping to pave the way for the younger generation, especially the Latinos in Communications and Broadcasting. Jose loved bowling, music and spending quality time with his grandchildren, who he truly adored. He enjoyed gambling, going to Cripple Creek and Las Vegas, having a cold one every now and then. Jose had so much love to share with all his family.
Jose is survived by his loving daughter, Roni (Dave) Baros, his precious grandchildren, David Baros, Briana, Cayla, and Vanessa (Mike) Schultz; siblings, Richard “Chic” Diaz and Irene (Fred) Carrillo; great grandchildren Raelyn and Remyington Schultz; several nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial, 10 am, Thurs., Aprill 11, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Interment Roselawn Cemetery. Military Honors by Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
