Joseph Neal FitzGerald, 84, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on April 12th, 2026.
Joe was a proud firefighter and a United States Marine, serving his community and country with dedication and strength. He carried that same sense of duty and loyalty throughout his life.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, and never missed a chance to share stories from his time in the mountains and on the water—often told with a twinkle in his eye and just the right amount of exaggeration. Whether gathered with family or among friends, his storytelling brought laughter, connection, and a sense of tradition that will be carried on by those who knew him.
Above all, Joe loved his family deeply. He had a big heart and was always there for those he cared about, offering support, kindness, and steady presence. His warmth and generosity touched many lives.
He will be remembered for his distinctive laugh and his natural ability to befriend strangers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at Mt. Carmel Church, 421 Clark St. followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Roselawn Crypts.
An untraditional Irish wake will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 at Tony and Joe's Pizza.
Donations can be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Building Fund in Joe's memory.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
