Joseph "Tom" Valdez

Joseph T. Valdez, affectionately known as “Tom” passed away April 11, 2021 with his family at his bedside. He was born June 22, 1947 in Walsenburg, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eloy and Josie Rael. He Retired with 30 years plus from the CF&I Ore-Prep Plant. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to Cripple Creek and of course having a good glass of wine. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cassandra “Sandy” Valdez; his children, Michael (Kolene) Valdez, Selene (Patrick) Valdez- Oehmke, Shaun Valdez and Roseanne (George) Ayala; 6 grandchildren; 4 ¾ great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy, Nancy, Sandy (Larry), Ronald and Jimmy; godson, Richard Cambo; lifelong friend, Lee Vasquez; in-laws, Mayoline Lewis, Dan (Laura) Pino and David (Denise) Pino; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and former neighbors of Avondale who will miss him dearly. 

Funeral Mass, 11 am Thursday April 15, 2021, Sacred Heart Church, Avondale.
