Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I thirst and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ Matthew 25: 34-36
Karl David Aguilera, RPh., has taken his rightful place in heaven, reunited with God and the beloved family who went before him.
Born in Pueblo, Colorado, to Rose and Pete Aguilera, Karl was the cherished younger brother of Ray Aguilera. A proud athlete, he played football for Pueblo Catholic High School, Roncalli High School, and Western State University. Following in his father’s footsteps, he pursued an education in pharmacy at the University of Colorado, earning his degree in 1974.
Karl’s profession was more than a job—it was a calling. As a pharmacist, he fiercely advocated for his patients, seeing his work as a way to serve both his community and his faith. His deep devotion to service extended beyond his career. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, a Eucharistic minister at his church, and a dedicated volunteer at the local soup kitchen. His commitment to helping others also included faithfully donating blood for over 20 years.
Karl met the love of his life, Karen, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three wonderful children: David, Gabriel, and Carla. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was an avid supporter of the Denver Broncos, CU Buffs, and Colorado Rockies, but his greatest joy came from cheering on his grandchildren: Gabrielle Hope, Madelyn, Cameron, Charlotte, Sullivan, MacArthur, and Callaghan, in their athletic and academic pursuits.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Rose Aguilera, his brother, Ray Aguilera and two siblings who passed at birth. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Aguilera; his cherished children, David Aguilera, Gabriel Aguilera, and Carla Kutrubes; his adored daughters-in-law, Mary Aguilera and Sara Hernandez; and his treasured son-in-law, Thomas Kutrubes. His beautiful nieces Andrea, Abby, Erin, Anna, Stevey Jo, Jessie June, and his nephews Sam, Jason, Zach, Jacob, Connor, Micheal and his numerous first cousins and second cousins, and life long friends and colleagues who will all miss him immensely
Karl’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
