Katherine "Kathy" Valdez

Katherine M. "Kathy" Valdez, 75 passed away on September 20, 2019, she was born February 8, 1944, to proud parents John and Margaret (Aguirre) Velarde both preceded her in death along with her brother Robert Velarde, a sister Bernadette Garcia, In-laws, John and (Amelia) Valdez and brother-in-law Andrew Valdez. Kathy retired from the City of Pueblo with 26 years of service. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, where she was a member of the church choir and Altar Society. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting blankets for family and friends, playing the slot machines and traveling to Las Vegas. Kathy also made the best banana nut bread and zucchini bread. She was the only lady that could microwave a bundt cake to perfection. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ben Valdez; her children: Petey (Melissa) Valdez, and Benjamin (Renee) Valdez; her brother Anthony (Charlotte) Velarde, 3 grandchildren, Jacob Valdez, Peyton (Chris) Davies, and Raymond Valdez. 3 great-grandchildren. In-laws Linda Joyce (Del) Olivas, Eloy (Anita) Valdez. John (Eva) Valdez, Henry Garcia, and Betty Estrada. Special god-daughters Antionette Garcia, and Christy Velasco. Special great-niece who she considered as her granddaughter, Makayla Garcia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of special friends who loved and will miss Kathy. Rosary Thursday 10 a.m.with funeral Mass to follow. Both at St. Francis Xavier Church, Fr. Selva Kumar, celebrant. Gathering at the Zaragoza Hall following services.
