Kenneth Russell Wheeler, 69, passed away July 16, 2024. A lifetime Puebloan, he was born October 29, 1954 to parents, Marion and Thelma Athene (Morgan) Wheeler. Both precede him in death along with his son, Eric Hernandez; grandson, Elias Stone Wheeler; brother, Raymond Wheeler; and in-laws, Bennie and Theresa Barela.
Kenneth was a proud East High School graduate, Class of 1974. He was the owner and operator of Ken’s Tree Service, a professional Arborist with 25+ years of service to Southern Colorado. Kenneth enjoyed playing guitar and snow skiing. He was a big hockey fan. He also enjoyed the lakes and was a great water skier. But most of all he loved spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. Kenneth loved sharing life stories, lessons, and words of wisdom but most of all his love that he had for each of them. He will be always remembered by his children for his legendary Dad jokes and great sense of humor.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Nita (Barela) Wheeler; sons, Stephen (Krystal) Hernandez, John (Brooke) Wheeler; daughter, Kendra (David Nelson) Wheeler; grandchildren, Cole, Hailey, Chloe, Dane, Benjamin, William, Eric, Graci, River, and Sunny; in-laws, Rosalie Martinez and Leroy Gurule.
