Larry Dwyer Obituary

Larry Lee Dwyer, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born to Myrtle and John Dwyer—both of whom preceded him in death—Larry was also predeceased by his beloved Aunt “Flunky Butt” Florence and her husband, Lee McCorkle.

Larry lived with a fierce Irish love for his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly (Hopperstad) Dwyer; his children, L. Cayel Dwyer, Shay (Shaun) Trimble, and Tisha (Danny) Saenz; and his cherished grandchildren: Siaha, Trinity, Ashlynn, and Tristin Saenz, as well as Tadhg, Ciernan, and Saoirse Dwyer. Also left behind are a number of well-loved four-legged grand fur-babies Trimble.

He is further survived by his sister Jeanette and his treasured brother-in-law John Caligaris, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. To many, he was simply and lovingly known as “Uncle Larry,” especially to Johnny Caligaris and Jason Hagerman, who held a special place in his heart.

Larry was deeply involved in sports throughout his life—playing and coaching volleyball, slow-pitch softball, and basketball. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his children and grandchildren in all their athletic pursuits and took immense pride in each of them.

A talented musician in his youth, Larry spent his high school years at Central High and later attended SCSC, where he continued to cultivate his love for music. He performed with several groups, including the Folklore Three, and traveled frequently to share his voice and passion.

Larry retired from CF&I, where his co-workers were more like brothers than colleagues. Known for his magnetic personality, he never met a stranger—whether for a five-minute chat or a conversation that lasted hours. He was known for handing out pocket angels and heartfelt compliments to anyone in need of a little light.

Per his wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of Larry’s life for immediate family will take place in June. Details to follow.
